They have sold out the righteous for silver, sold out even the poor and the poor nations for a pitiful pair of flip flops, trampled all over the lower and middle class, and thrust aside the humble.

Amos 2:7
That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

Amos declares in chapter 8 verses 11-13 that from "sea to shining sea" there is a great famine for hearing the Word of God. Yes, the so-called leaders, both political and ecclesiastic, do profane the very name of Christ by their actions, their evil works!

[8] And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

Note: All the examples Amos has used are examples which are contained in the law, yes, in the Old Testament. Apparently this "non-credentialed by man's seminaries" servant of God, knew the scriptures very well, didn't he? Imagine that! If you are fortunate to possess a Companion Bible there are scriptural references to these laws contained in the parallel column. You should check them out.

[9] Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

[10] Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

Exodus 20:2
I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

One of those tribes knew even not long ago that they were among the Exodus from Egypt. They are the Scots, who right now have the Stone of Scone is their possession in Edinburgh Castle. Here is an excerpt from their Declaration of Independence, know as the "Declaration of Arbroath", written on April 6, 1320:

"Most Holy Father and Lord, we know and from the chronicles and books of the ancients we find tat among other famous nations our own, the Scots, has been graced with widespread renown. They journeyed from Greater Scythia by way of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Pillars of Hercules, and dwelt for a long course of time in Spain among the most savage tribes, but nowhere could they be subdued by any race, however barbarous. Thence they came, twelve hundred years after the people of Israel crossed the Red Sea, to their home in the west where they still live today. The Britons they first drove out, the Picts they utterly destroyed, and even though very often assailed by the Norwegians, the Danes and the English, they took possession of that home with many victories and untold efforts; and, as the historians of old tome bear witness, they have held it free of all bondage ever since. In their kingdom there have reigned one hundred and thirteen kings of their own royal stock, the line unbroken by a single foreigner."

They were simply scattered abroad to the "Isles of the West" according to the Word of God.

They would lose their national identity as the house of "Israel" and they would be called by a "New Name" which the Lord Himself would name (Isa. 62:2). In fact, it is His Name and so it is that today they are called "Christians".

James wrote his book specifically to those tribes, those Christians who were scattered abroad: James 1:1 "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting."
