Pamphlet #8021 Ezekiel 21

Guess who is coming to clean your Biblically illiterate spiritual clock?

Do you remember we learned in Ezekiel chapter 16 that our Father "married" the city of Jerusalem, thereby choosing her as His dwelling place for all of eternity? We also learned several times in this Book of Ezekiel so far that the king of Babylon, Satan, the false-christ, comes upon the final generation.

Then in the last chapter, after we were admonished to do our homework and check out our beliefs in His Word to see if we are polluted by men's traditions, we were told that each individual would be tested in the wilderness and give answer to our Father face to face. He said also that He is eventually going to gather all Israel back to Him on Mount Zion. No, not the Jews, from that little country in the Middle East, as we know them today. Well yes, some of them to be sure. The ones who are really descendants of Judah along with all the other descendants of Judah's eleven brothers. The other eleven tribes of Israelites, i.e. United States of America, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Denmark, France, and ALL THE WORLD where Israelites live today.

Ezekiel then spoke a parable in the closing verses of chapter 20 and the elders of Israel, who were steeped in the traditional stinky idol worship of their fathers, wondered why he did that, because they didn't understand it.

Therefore, just so no one is left with an excuse, God is going to explain the parable in this chapter 21.

Ezekiel 21:1
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[2] Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,

This is part of the job description of the endtime watchman of God. TEACH the Word of God, and always remember to "work in" what is about to happen in the holy place. The king of Babylon, Satan as the spurious messiah, is coming to town! (You can sing it to the tune of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". You better watch out...)zzzsx x
drop = nat*aph, naw-taf', Hebrew 5197; a primitive root; to ooze, i.e. distil gradually; by implication to fall in drops; figurative to speak by inspiration :- drop (-ping), prophesy (-et).
Teach after the manner of a gentle rain. Don't hit them with a hurricane!
[3] And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
Verse 19 will document that this sword is the sword of correction, the sword of the king of Babylon, not the sword of Rev. 1:16. But though it is the king of Babylon's sword, God calls it His, because He "draws it", i.e. brings it forth, to chastise and test (vs. 13) the people who dwell on the earth.
Ezekiel 21:4
Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
All flesh simply means everyone.
[5] That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath: it shall not return any more.
God will not put away the sword of correction until it has accomplished its mission according to God's Plan.
[6] Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.
God wants Ezekiel to groan and sigh as if in anguish and full of grief [bitterness] so that everyone can see him. To demonstrate what? The answer is found in the next verse. It is because of the announcement [tidings] he just made! The sword of the king of Babylon IS COMING! You can count on it. Wake up!
[7] And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
This is prophetic but it is very simple. The king of Babylon, the false-christ, is coming to Jerusalem and EVERYONE, including the righteous and the wicked, will face him.
[8] Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[9] Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:

"A Sword, a Sword", repeated for emphasis like "Warning, Warning". The sword is sharpened and brightly polished and ready to make a sore slaughter (next verse). In the prophetic sense this means the slaughtering of souls, the inner man, not flesh, as in, the outer man.
Ezekiel 21:10
It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree.
"Contemneth" means to spurn or abhor, meaning it is also against His sons. And the sword is not only sharpened to cut quickly and easily, but it GLITTERS, which is "baraq" in Hebrew and means "lightning".
baraq, baw-rawk', Hebrew 1300; from Hebrew 1299 (baraq); lightning; by analogy a gleam; concrete a flashing sword :- bright, glitter (-ing, sword), lightning.
Did you know that "Baraq" was the surname of a recent leader of Israel (the land of Israel [vs. 3] which is the location that this prophecy is about, i.e. Jerusalem). His name is Ehud Barak and his last name means "lightning". Could this be another sign we are getting close to the time when the king of Babylon shows up with his glittering sword? Well, Barak's first name, Ehud, means "united". Let's see now... 1 Thes. 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety [i.e. unity, which Ehud is pushing for]; then sudden destruction [the desolator, i.e. Satan] cometh upon them...Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as "lightning" fall from heaven.
[11] And he hath given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.
The slayer is the future king of Babylon, Satan, the abomination who makes desolate spoken of by Daniel the prophet. He wields the sword of chastisement sharpened for destruction! That's right! God uses Satan as a rod of correction.
[12] Cry and howl, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people: smite therefore upon thy thigh.
The "it" is the sword of the King of Babylon and again, "it" is coming to Jerusalem, even upon the princes [leaders] and all His people.

So slap your thighs, all ye watchmen, and get the people's attention. Hello citizens of the United States of America, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, Denmark, France, and ALL THE WORLD.  Guess who is coming to clean your Biblically illiterate spiritual clock?

Ezekiel 21:13
Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD.
The king of Babylon comes to test ALL those who dwell on the earth. Here's the definition of the word "trial" in verse 13.
trial = bachan, baw-khan', Hebrew 974; a primitive root; to test (especially metals); general and figurative to investigate :- examine, prove, tempt, try (trial).
So you mean to tell me God is going to use the king of Babylon, Satan, to even TEST God's own servants? This is where the homework comes in handy. We can search the historical records for a type. Let's see... oh yes... king Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, the world ruling type of the king of Babylon of the last days, tossed God's servants Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the fiery furnace. I'd call that a test, wouldn't you? Actually I'd call that a Final Exam! Of course they had on the Gospel Armor (Eph. 6) so they were not harmed in any way.
Ezekiel 21:14
Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers.
So therefore, son of man (this means you if you are a watchman of God), get teaching and clap your hands to get people's attention, and brandish the sword twice, thrice, to symbolize the great massacre they face!
[15] I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.
The sword is made "bright as lightening". Everyone gets to see it flashed and wielded about by the king of Babylon, who will be Satan posing as Jesus Christ. Most people, including the majority of professing Christians, will get their souls cut really badly. You see, one must have the Gospel Armor on in order to be protected from the devil, the king of Babylon. Here's how the apostle Paul said it:
Ephes. 6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
By the way, you can't buy Gospel Armor nor acquire some by going to church and singing praises. It grows on you line by line and verse by verse (either covering your nakedness or replacing your polluted garments) as you study God's Word. There is no other way.

Then you are not only protected from the devil, you get to carry around the most powerful Sword in all the Universe! Dragons beware!

Ephes. 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Let's repeat Ezekiel 21:15.
Ezekiel 21:15
I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.

The Hebrew word for "ruins" is "mikshowl" which means a stumbling-block.

ruins = mikshowl, mik-shole', Hebrew 4383; or mikshol, mik-shole'; masculine from Hebrew 3782 (kashal); a stumbling-block, literal or figurative (obstacle, enticement [specifically an idol], scruple) :- caused to fall, offence, × [no-] thing offered, ruin, stumbling-block.
It is written that the king of Babylon in the end times, i.e. Satan, the son of perdition, comes as the spurious messiah and deceives the WHOLE WORLD (except God's elect) into believing he is Jesus. As Paul wrote in 2 Thes. 2, when the son of perdition shows up in Jerusalem claiming to be God, there will be a great apostasy, which means professing Christians by the millions will begin to worship him as Jesus Christ. The reason they stumble and fall is because their church fed them BAD DOCTRINE, like the rapture theory. That's right, many Christian churches of today hold Satan's doctrines. Here are Christ's own words concerning today's church of Pergamos:
Rev. 2:14
But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
And generation after generation follow in the footsteps of their fathers.
Are you polluted?

And so it is that the king of Babylon will be a stumblingblock to most Christians, because they haven't checked out God's Word, so #1.) they don't know there are two Jesus Christs (the real one and a fake one), and #2.) they believe the the vision of "any moment" rapture. Read this verse again! Remember, this is one of five of the seven churches of Revelation that have Big Problems because they teach BAD DOCTRINE. They are polluted after the manner of their fathers and they will FALL and WORSHIP before the king of Babylon (Satan), believing of course that he is Jesus Christ, the Messiah returned. Therefore they will be SLAIN by his sword, brought upon them AS PROMISED and DECLARED by the Word of God time after time after time again, even once more in this 21st chapter of Ezekiel.

It will happen exactly as it is written.

The "watchmen" have been instructed by our Father in the second verse of this 21st chapter, that when they teach His Word in this final generation to always "drop a reminder" to folks about what is going to happen in the holy city of Jerusalem. That is really easy to do because the Word of God is replete with the warnings that the King of Babylon (Satan) IS COMING, and EVERYONE, the good, the bad, and the ugly, are going to BE HERE (on the ground) and they are going to FACE HIS SWORD!

So don't be deceived by these latter day ministers and preachers who come in the name of Jesus Christ, as His representatives, and deceive people into believing they are going to fly away and not go through the tribulation of Satan as the false-christ. Paul even warned about being misled as to when we gather back to Jesus Christ in 2 Thes. 2. It occurs AFTER the king of Babylon has come and taken the whole world captive. True, those who have the seal of God in their foreheads, who have the Gospel Armor on, will not be harmed by Satan's sword or his fiery darts, but they WILL BE HERE nonetheless to endure the fiery furnace of Nebuchadnezzar, who was merely a type of false-christ, or perhaps a free one night stay in the Lion's Den.

So picture each individual (the good, the bad, and the ugly) with the point of the sword of the king of Babylon right up against his or her chest [gate], and it is sharp as a razor and furbished and it glitters like lightning! And our Father says to he who holds it, "Wield that sword to the right and to the left, and let it cut whom it will"!

The question is, "Will it cut you?"

Ezekiel 21:16
Go thee one way or other, either on the right hand, or on the left, whithersoever thy face is set.
Are your beliefs polluted with the traditions of the fathers? Have you checked them out His Word? Do you study His Word and "rightly divide" it?  You see, unless a person has the seal of God in his or her forehead he is going get to awfully bloody (spiritually speaking), even to the point of the second death.
[17] I will also smite mine hands together, and I will cause my fury to rest: I the LORD have said it.
Just like He told Ezekiel to clap his hands and get the people's attention, God will clap His hands and bring forth the sword of spiritual chastisement in the hands of the king of Babylon, the false-christ. The expression "I will cause my fury to rest" is the same one used in Ezk. 5:13 and means it WILL come upon them, no if's, and's or "but my preacher said we aren't going to be here!'
Ezekiel 5:13
Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.
So perhaps you have come to that old proverbial fork in the road? Hey, everyone does when the sharp furbished sword is pointed against their gate! Decisions, decisions! Live or die?
Ezekiel 21:18
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,

[19] Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.

So the king of Babylon is on his way to a fork in the road and Ezekiel is instructed to set up a road sign at the head of the way to the city, which is before the Mount of Olives. Which way do you think the king of Babylon will choose to go?  (Hint: He actually has no choice for he is God's servant and God hath set [appointed] his path.)
[20] Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defenced.
Ezekiel is told to "appoint" these two ways, one leading by the south, by Tadmor to Rabbath [meaning "great"] of the Ammonites, and the other by the north by Riblah to Judah in Jerusalem.

Note: The Ammonites were descendents of Lot and they became idolatrous worshippers of Molech, you know, the religion where you "pass your children through the fire". It was from these Ammonites that the great city of Jerusalem adopted many of the wicked practices and idols to worship.

[21] For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.
Hey, lookie here! We've got divination, religion, involved with the coming of the king of Babylon. Of course he never consults Almighty God or His Word. He uses Tarot Cards and the 1-800 Psychic Hotlines. Sometimes he just writes "Judah" and "Rabbath" on separate arrows and mixes them up in his quill and reaches back and pulls one out and BINGO, the decision is made.

And believe it or not, they had another (more messy) divination where they killed an animal and inspected its liver. If it was healthy the decision was "yea". If its liver was unhealthy, the decision was "nay", for that meant the animal drank too much Babylonian Brew. (Just kidding.)

Ezekiel 21:22
At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.
Remember the model Ezekiel was instructed to build back in chapter four of this book, depicting these battering rams and the building of a fort against Jerusalem by the soon coming king of Babylon? "You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why. Satan is coming to town!" Not maybe, but you can count on it. And Christians aren't going to fly away when he comes, either.

Here is beginning of the account in chapter 4 to show the parallel with verse 22 which we just read:

Ezekiel 4:1-2
Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city, even Jerusalem:

[2] And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about.

Of course if you also remember, the elders and religious leaders of the people were telling everyone that it ISN'T going to happen, that they are protected and safe within the walls of Jerusalem and God isn't going to let the king of Babylon come upon them and have the victory?

Well, there is nothing new under the sun, is there? Their children, and their children's children today, are POLLUTED after their same manner and believe the religious leaders (Christian ministers) of today who tell them they are safe and are going to avoid confronting the king of Babylon, Satan, the spurious messiah. IT'S A LIE! The preachers today are LYING to the people just as they did when king Nebuchadnezzar came upon the great city, JUST AS IT WAS FORETOLD by Ezekiel and Jeremiah!

And the same message and warning applies to this generation for whom it was acted out in type in history. Christians had better get the Gospel Armor on and get ready to take a stand (Eph. 6). Otherwise they will be defenseless and SHALL BE taken captive and slaughtered (spiritually) by the king of Babylon, who will be Satan posing as Jesus.

Ezekiel 21:23
And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
So the people believed it was not divination, that it was not going to happen, even those who should have known better. No matter, Nebuchadnezzar will remember the breaking of the covenant and oath of Zedekiah and he WILL COME marching upon Jerusalem. Why, because he remembered? No, because it is decreed by Adonai Yahveh through His prophets and is now written in His Word for our generation.
[24] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.
God is no respecter of persons. We ALL get what we deserve.
[25] And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,
Say goodbye to king Zedekiah! Let him serve as a type of one who breaks his oaths and covenants. Remember how all of his sons were killed before he had his eyes gouged out at Riblah and was carried to Babylon where he died?
Ezekiel 21:26
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.
The crown, the royal diadem, was to be taken away. And so it was that Zedekiah would be the last king of Judah.

Also, we read the same thing about the "exalting of Him that is low", etc., back in chapter 17 concerning the parable of the high branch, etc., and how the low tree would be exalted and the high tree brought down?

Ezekiel 17:24
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
The high [haughty] tree, Satan as the spurious messiah will be brought down at the return of the low [humble] tree, Jesus Christ, who will be exalted as the King of kings and Lord of lords and under whose authority all people shall dwell forever more.

We also talked briefly about the "daughters" of Zedekiah who were not killed by king Nebuchadnezzar and were taken along with the Stone of Scone, known as Jacob's Pillar, to the shores of Ireland by Jeremiah, thus replanting the kingship line in the Isles of the West? In his booklet "Jacob's Pillar", E. Raymond Capt gives the details of this fascinating and easy to document history of how this stone was overturned from Ireland, to Scotland, and then to England (overturn, overturn, overturn). The "it" in the next verse is the royal crown, the diadem. It is written that there would always be someone to sit upon the throne of David until Christ returns as King.

Ezekiel 21:27
I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.
If you do not know the history of this "rock", which was Jacob's pillar, the rock carried in the wilderness and struck twice, then write Artisan Publishers at Box 1529, 1409 West Shawnee, Muskogee, OK, 74402 for a copy of "Jacob's Pillar", by E. Raymond Capt.

Live Link to->>> The Birthright and the Sceptre

By the way, the rock was recently removed from under the Coronation Throne in Westminster Abby by the English Prime Minister, John Majors, and taken to the Edinburgh (Eden's - place) Castle. As the chair sits emptied of the Stone of Scone, could it be that the last human coronation has taken place upon it and the next king to be crowned upon the stone will be Him "whose right it is" to be upon it for all of eternity, the King of Kings? We shall soon see!

Ezekiel 21:28
And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:
Don't think for a moment that idolaters are exempt from facing the glittering, consuming sword just because the king of Babylon is headed first for Jerusalem.
[29] Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.
You can add their slain souls to the pile already in Jerusalem, for they also have been fed lies, and seen EMPTY VISIONS. They are polluted indeed!

Historical Note: After the fall of Jerusalem, Ammon was destroyed for helping Ishmael in usurping the government of Judea against the will of the king of Babylon. God's Word is always true and accurate and its history has never been disproved by the skeptic.

The next question is: Is there anywhere a person can go to escape the sword of trial? The answer is: No, there is not!

[30] Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.

[31] And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.

Get rid of those polluted garments and get suited up in the Word of God. Otherwise you'll just make the lake of fire burn bigger and brighter as your soul burns and crackles like a piece of dry wood until it is consumed away, gone for ever and ever.
[32] Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
Just remember the last phrase in this verse: "The LORD has spoken it!" Believe Him, not man!
To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
